FAQ

Is my car safe to drive with a cracked windscreen?

Yes it is perfectly safe to drive as the windscreen is laminated. It will not shatter however the crack may get bigger so you should have the windscreen replaced or repaired as soon as possible

Will the replacement glass be the same quality as the original glass?

Yes all our replacement glass is as original specification manufactured to the exact same standards as the original parts and in a lot of cases will be made by the same factorys and companys as the original parts.

What is a laminated windscreen?

The laminated screen consists of two sheets of glass and a tough vinyl interlayer which is sandwiched in between the 2 layers. In most cases when damaged it is only the outer sheet of glass which is broken.

Why are your prices so much lower than the national chains?

The main reason is we dont have the large overheads of the large companys all replacements are carried out at your premises not in a workshop  we purchase the glass and just add a fair labour charge to cover our costs.

How long after my windscreen has been replaced can I drive my car?

Cars that have passenger and drivers air bags have a 1 hour drive time at temperatures between 5ºc-22ºc and above.

What kind of weather conditions can the windscreen be fitted in?

We cannot safely fit any type of bonded glass in damp or wet weather as the chemicals we use will not adhere to the bodywork or the glass.

How is a stone chip repaired?

The repair process involves injecting resin into the damaged area and expelling the air from the lamination. The result is virtually undetectable depending on how long the damage has been there for or how big it is. The resin is cured using ultra-violet light and the repaired area is cleaned and polished.

Why do side and rear windows shatter?

This is a safety feature believe it or not it means that in the event of an accident rescuers will be able to get the passengers out of the car by breaking the glass if it is not already broken. Nearly all cars have toughened glass for this reason.
